We are not the SCA, and we are not the Outlands
Long Live the Outlands (longlivetheoutlands.org) is a volunteer project built by people who take part in the Society for Creative Anachronism. That is the whole of the connection.
This site is not:
- operated by, affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc.;
- operated by, affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Kingdom of the Outlands, or by any principality, barony, shire, or other branch;
- an official publication of any SCA office, officer, or Kingdom newsletter;
- a channel through which SCA or Kingdom business can be conducted, reported, or appealed.
Nobody who runs this site speaks for the Society or the Kingdom. If something here reads like an announcement, it is not one.
Where to go for official information
For anything that must be right — event dates and sites, fees, rules of the list, membership, officer contacts, policy, corrections — use the official sources:
- outlands.org, the Kingdom of the Outlands
- sca.org, the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc.
- The event steward named on the official listing for that event
Where an official source and this site disagree, the official source is right. Please also tell us so we can correct the listing.
Event information is member-contributed and unverified
Event listings on this site are written by members, not by event stewards or Kingdom officers. We do not check them. A listing may be incomplete, out of date, or simply wrong: dates move, sites change, events are cancelled, and fees go up.
Confirm the details with the event steward or the official listing before you commit money or travel. We are not responsible for a wasted trip.
Camping and travel arrangements are between members
This site gives members a place to say "I have two seats free" or "there is room in our camp". That is all it does. When you arrange to share a car, a camp, a tent, or a meal with someone you met here:
- the arrangement is strictly between you and the other members involved;
- we are not a party to it, and we do not supervise, mediate, or guarantee it;
- we do not run background checks, verify driving licences or insurance, inspect vehicles, or vet anyone in any way;
- we do not verify that anyone is who they say they are, or that they are an SCA member in good standing.
Use the same judgement you would use arranging a ride with a stranger anywhere else. Tell someone where you are going. If a situation feels wrong, do not get in the car.
Trade marks
"Society for Creative Anachronism", "SCA", "Kingdom of the Outlands", and related names, arms, badges, and insignia are the property of their respective owners. They are used on this site only nominatively — that is, to describe the community this site serves — and not to suggest any endorsement or affiliation. No claim of ownership is made.
If you hold rights in any mark used here and object to how it is used, please contact us and we will respond promptly.
