About
What this is
Long Live the Outlands is a volunteer-built website for the practical side of going to events: finding out what is on, working out who else is going, sorting a camp, and sharing the drive.
This is not an official site. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. or the Kingdom of the Outlands. For anything official, go to outlands.org or sca.org. Full disclaimer.
Why it exists
The Outlands is enormous. Getting to an event often means several hours of driving, a tent, and a plan. The official listings tell you when and where an event is, which is exactly what they should do — but they are not the place to work out whether anyone has a spare seat leaving Denver on the Friday, or whether there is room under somebody's shade fly.
That is the gap this site tries to fill. It is a supplement, not a replacement, and it is deliberately careful not to look like the real thing.
What it does
- A calendar of events across the Kingdom, each one linking out to its official listing.
- Attendance — say you are going, see who else is, with a waitlist for events that have a place limit.
- Camps — start one or ask to join one, say what you are bringing and what is still needed.
- Travel — offer the seats you have free, or ask for the seats you need.
What it does not do
- Take payments. Site and feast fees go to the event, as they always have.
- Replace official listings. Where we disagree with the official source, the official source is right.
- Vet anyone. Arrangements between members are between those members; please read the terms on that point.
- Track you. No analytics, no advertising, no third-party scripts, and no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.
Your data
We collect as little as we can, and you can take it back or delete it yourself at any time from your account settings — no email to anyone, no waiting. The privacy policy sets out exactly what is held, for how long, and what happens when you delete your account.
